the wanting comes in waves

the wanting comes in waves off the decemberist new album the hazards of love.

"the wanting comes in waves" - i love the use of waves in creating imagery.. its like a piece of nature in all seriousness.. and most people are drawn to water.. almost instinctually.. just as wanting can be out of control.

out of the blue

i just finished watching this film out of the blue.
directed by dennis hopper. starring linda manz, dennis hopper and sharon farrel

due to incestuous subject, film was banned in the uk.

neil young’s music is appropriately the sound track and influence for the film title
“out of the blue” (hey hey my my) and perhaps the story itself..

great acting, great cinematography, ok writing..

following manz, a teen struggling with loss, abuse, sexuality, drugs and more travels through her own motions repelling all her troubles through emotional self obsession. this moving story is absolutely believable with the rawness and strength in each lead and in cinematographic choices.. this canadian film really does lend itself to that teen angst sort of soul searching story although invested in much darker haunting issues. haunting is a very good description for this film, it’s got that lingering quality.. linda manz, a great actress first gaining recognition in t.malick’s intense days of heaven, seriously stepped it up with such a genuine performance in out of the blue. it seemed she was on her way to becoming a dominant teen actress in the 80s.. but she basically disappeared.. i guess into the black?
Whatever the case, out of the blue is a decent movie made timeless by linda manz.

the dalmatian coast

paths along the rugged coast, todays southern breeze and eastern strife making my still standing something like swinging in the weeps or standing from path and into the adriatic from the adriatic and deep into this sea paths along the rugged coast todays southern breeze and eastern strife oh dalmatian coast guide me in these waters are trouble now trouble now trouble now trouble now

(photo taken in cavtat croatia by andrea dzamarija)

flipping through my atlas the dalmatian coast harbouring the intensity of the adriatic s waters got me thinking about similar themes i have written about before.. to do with water and the dependency life has always had on water.. and yet causing such horrific tragedies. this part of europe is certainly familiar with tragedy, ranging from sea ambushes to civil war. lucky a pencil was close by. I hope to take this poem and expand later, but for now this is all I have. wz.

heavenly arms

kneeling hands against the sliding door reflection into droplets droplets counting to high numbers it is raining and i am kneeling against the sliding door easy to open keeping door shut keeping my hands cold against the glass heavenly arms in adjacent room covered by el perro del mar

Heavenly Arms - Lou Reed (El Perro Del Mar Cover)

Heavenly arms reach out to hold me
Heavenly arms entice you to dance
In a world of ill will, the dancers are still
Heavenly arms reach out to me

Heavenly arms soft as a love song
Heavenly arms bring a kiss to your ear
In a world that seems mad, all the dancers seem sad
Heavenly arms reach out to me

Sylvia
Sylvia
Sylvia
Sylvia

Heavenly arms come to my rescue
Only a woman can love a man
In a world full of hate, love should never wait
Heavenly arms reach out to me

Heavenly arms strong as a sunset
Heavenly arms pure as the rain
Lovers stand warned of the world's impending storm
Heavenly arms reach out to me

Ohhh-wohhh, oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
Ooohhh-ooohhh-ooohhh-ooohhh-ooohhh, oh-woh-woh
Ooohhh-ooohhh-ooohhh-ooohhh, ohh-woh-woh
(Heavenly arms reach out to hold me)
(Sylvia, you mean so much to me)
(Heavenly arms reach out to hold me)
(Sylvia, you mean so much to me)
(Heavenly arms reach out to hold me)
(Sylvia, you mean so much to me)

(Heavenly arms reach out to hold me)

- after listening to el perro del mar's take on this this wonderfully desperate plea by lou reed i've become obsessed with the simplicity in wanting what you want, and the nature around delivering lines that communicate such desire without neglecting the real depth. i find the truthful lyrics and pure sounds in heavenly arms very motivational.
